Cookie Season is over and in two months Anna will be bridging from Brownie to Junior. Good thing too, because her vest is almost full.
She earned the Meet My Customers Badge along with her troop after the first weekend of booth sales..
Together, the brownies earned the Money Manager badge in one night by taking a weekend’s worth of newspaper ads and “buying” food and clothes on a hypothetical $200 budget. Once they were done, they could pick out items from the Toys R Us catalog if they had money left over.
They began the Dancer badge at our Service Unit’s World Thinking Day event. Our booth was about Brazil and the girls taught everyone the samba. We completed the remaining steps over the next few weeks.
On March 18, the local Deputy Fire Marshall visited our troop along with Casey the Fire Dog. She talked about fire safety and what to do in an emergency, which partially fulfilled the First Aid Badge. After Spring Break, we talked about medical emergencies and paramedics, and each of the brownies made their own first aid kits.
And today we completed the Brownie Quest Journey. We spent the last several weeks bringing in items from Greenhill Humane Society’s wishlist, and we also made cat and dog toys. Then this morning, we delivered the items to the shelter shortly after they open. The animals and the human volunteers all loved our contribution. and the girls learned about taking action in their community.
Up next? The World of Girls Journey, which we’re condensing into the month of April. Earning these four patches will also get Anna her Journey Summit pin for completing all three journeys. She’ll also earn the Give Back cookie award and the Philanthropist badge when we present our Gift of Caring donation to Womenspace (a local domestic-abuse shelter) on April 15. Then in May we’ll focus on more badges. And finally, at the last troop meeting in June, Anna and two of her fellow brownies will bridge to Juniors, earning their Bridge award and their Brownie Wings.
By then there won’t be a square inch of blank space on her brownie vest.
