What will this Daddy Say?

Now that DADT Repeal has passed both houses of Congress and is headed to the President’s desk, I think back to a video clip I posted on the old blog site back in June:

At the time, I said three things: this is a ridiculous question, DADT has nothing to do with sex, and I would welcome this conversation with my daughter.

Now I know what I will say to her: “There was a time in this country when some of the men and women who risked—and sometimes gave—their lives to protect our freedoms didn’t have the freedom to live their lives openly and honestly without fear of dismissal. It took years, but eventually enough people stood up and said it was wrong. Since then, no one has to live a lie to serve our country.”
